For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of people who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them.
Romans 1:18-19
In 1521, an Augustinian monk named Martin Luther, challenged the established church in Wittenberg, Germany, concerning its unbiblical teachings. Luther refused to recant his position. As a result, Emperor Charles the V presented the order of punishment. Luther was cast aside from the church, with a declaration that he was to be denied all food, water, and shelter, he was declared an outlaw, and he could be legally killed without consequence. It has been reported that Luther stated, “Here I stand, I can do no other.”
Luther knew all to well what Paul had written to the Romans. Suppressing the truth of what is clearly known of God, will reveal His wrath. A fate much great than any imposed by man.
