BRANDOFMAN Season 2 "Doctrine"

We are delighted to bring you Season Two from Brand of Man with scriptural truths referred to as doctrine. The list will not be exhaustive, but will cover the basic biblical doctrine Christians are obligated to use in forming their world view, the filter through which all Christians view the world. Unfortunately many Christians are intimidated by the term doctrine, in fear that doctrine will over-shadow God’s grace. This is unnecessary, as doctrine is simply a set of beliefs established by Almighty God, and should never be discounted but embraced.

The Apostle Paul emphasized the importance of doctrine in a pastoral letter to Timothy.

He stated…

All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.

2 Timothy 3:16-17

In addition, it was the Apostle Peter who emphasized the importance of knowing these doctrines.

Peter stated…

Sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence.

1 Peter 3:15

Simply put, it is important for us all who are Disciples of Christ to know what we believe, why we believe it, and to communicate these beliefs in a humble and engaging manner. This is the importance of Biblical doctrine, to live by the example Jesus provided and always be ready to give a biblical account for the hope that is in us.
